POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS - POSITIVE CHILD

How can children with negative beliefs which limit them benefit from the Personal Development for Children series?

How often do we hear children with a challenge or situation in front of them say they can't do something? It might be a ride in the park, pronouncing a particular word or maybe even children with a dislike for spiders. Whatever the object, person or situation they feel is insurmountable, children with a sense that something is too big or daunting for them simply have a limiting belief. Surely children with such beliefs would be served so much better by believing that they can overcome whatever it is they feel they can't - no matter how challenged they feel, encouraging this amongst children, especially children with a tendency to think 'I can't, may take their focus and therefore their energies away from what they cannot do and get them thinking about what they can. If we can ingrain children with good personal and emotional development habits, they might soar above the difficulties, frustrations and stresses that most of us (wrongly?) accept as part of life.

How can I get my child to relax and in a way that they will find appealing and attractive?

The virtuous circle of physiology and emotional state

Anyone who has ever had a conversation with a child around things they can and can't do will see them glow, and visibly grow, when they retell their achievements and conversely shrink and hesitate when they talk about something they haven't conquered yet. Let alone conversations with children with these topics as the subject, as adults we are much the same. The way we use our bodies drives our thoughts and feelings and the opposite is just as true. Children with an empowering 'I Can' type of thought in their mind will walk proud and tall and behave confidently. On the other hand, children with the encumbrance of a negative thought might put on the whining tone every parent will be familiar with, and say 'But I can't' whilst affecting fittingly negative body language. So children with a positive state of mind will behave positively. But do we ever consider the power and potential of helping children with the use of their bodies so they may influence their emotional state? If you are with children with this approach you are probably in an enlightened minority. This body to mind causal link is one of the tenets of yoga, which is burgeoning in popularity. Think for a moment how good we feel after a nice walk or any physical activity we enjoy – we may feel relaxed or positive or both. Why not try to encourage children with bad posture, languid gaits or an apathetic manner to sit and stand tall, and walk and move more purposefully to stimulate positive chemical processes in their bodies to enable children with generating an empowered state.
